Do you remember the very first book you read? My first read alone book was Lyle, Lyle Crocodile and I was about 5 years old. This book instilled in me a sense of wonder. How incredible it is to a 5 year old to imagine a world where your next door neighbor is a crocodile and that crocodile neighbor could possibly save your life.
From that time on my reading world ranged from anything from Roald Dahl to Agatha Christie to JRR Tolkien. I loved it all, the characters, the settings, the dialogue and the histories whether true or made up.
Because of this fascination, I have a degree in History and many of the jobs I took focused on books. About 11 years ago, I took a part time position working in an entertainment store in their book department, but after about 6 months, the manager of the store asked me to become the department manager. I remained the book department manager for about 5 years and then moved to the corporate offices to become the juvenile book product buyer then eventually the fiction buyer for the chain.
This blog is designed to enable you to learn about titles that have not been published yet. Most of my information will be from ARC's (advanced reading copies) that have been supplied to me by publishers usually 3-6 months before publication date. Due to this, as some of these publications are still being edited, some of my information regarding plot and characters will be very general. I will, however, try to provide a comparitive title or author, so that you have a better idea of whether this title might appeal to you. You will find all genres represented in this blog as I am equal opportunity reader. I know that you have many blogs out there devoted to fiction, but I hope you find this helpful and I welcome your comments.
